The solar cell sits on a hinged panel. The rechargable ni-cad battery and pump are in the lower housing. It’s best to charge with the usb first. Put it outside in the minnow barrel and it's been running every since.

Cons

Replacement lasted less than 3 months. It only works connected to the electricity or with the batery. It doesn't put out near the power that the battery bubblers do.
