It is a rich garnet - def not red and leans toward the brick tones - jmho as everyone perceives colors differently. It's more of a peacock blue, or dark teal, which is exactly what i wanted.

It just caresses you in softness. It is heavyweight cotton which is what you want in florida.

The fabric is softer after i washed it and will continue to soften up. Washed up well on delicate cycle and dried well on low without an excessive amount of lint or wrinkles. During the first drying, suggest you check your lint filter periodically.

The bedspread is soft and lightweight but after washing and drying it had shrunk to 111x111. This is not near the quality of our other matelasse spreads. It's so bad that i stopped using it after it ruined my brand new sheets with its pilling!

Then put it on no heat fluff cycle for 10 minutes. After 2 weeks, i have a rash on both arms from the elbow down. The weave of it makes it rough and irritating to my skin.
