The case is very light weight and does not add bulk to the kindle

The edges are slightly raise providing some protection if the kindle is dropped face down but should be noted that it does not have a screen protector so would not protect from a direct impact to the screen

Additionally the cover provides a grippy feel so it doesnt feel like it would slide off of a surface and is easy to hold
