Pros
For yrs. Worked like a charm. Bad reviews are from folks who are unfamiliar with the concept of how a double boiler is supposed to operate.
The base pan is non stick, sturdy and easy to clean. The lid is a good glass lid. The bottom pot is heavyweight and will serve as a 2nd 2 quart pot for my kitchen. The both stainless top pot and its non-stick holding pot is on the thin side.
Double boiler holds a lot of soap. It cleans up easy.
Cons
The insert is stainless (not great quality stainless). This is just dumb. This seems backward to me. The top portion of this double boiler is garbage.
The lid, and the rivets holding the handle on are aluminum. The top part which would contain the food is not only not nonstick, it has a seam where food would collect making it difficult to clean.
The bottom of the pan is too square for the beater to reach. The top simply is perched on the rim of the bottom pan with less than an extra inch. To properly whip, a pan needs to be an inverted dome shape fitting well down into the bottompan above the... Read More

Quality
It is a nice size and is pretty durable, especially for soap or shampoo making.
The handle seems to be well made as well.
After about 5 years of use the teflon coating started to wear (i used the base as a pot regularly) after i used too many metal wisks in it.
T- fal says do not let the flame climb the sides, choose a smaller burner, ordestroy the handle.
Price
It’s was $21 on special and i am absolutely happy with it.
For the price it is a good buy
Packaging/appearance
The double boiler was just what i ordered- thank you!
Also looked brand new, with no scratches.
Seemed like it was in original packaging, minus box.
