I admit though im scared to actually put them through the dishwasher for fear that will wear away at the coating

Though these plates seem to have a uniform exterior whereas the george foreman plates seemed like they had a coating on top and were a different sort of uncoated surface on the residuey back

The different cooking settings are probably a little unnecessarily complicated but if all else fails you can use the manual setting
