Once the handle is in an on position you just wave your hand by the sensor to trun it off or on

There is a sensor in the base of the faucet that basically sees your hand passing in front of it and turns on the water at whatever temperature the handle is currently set

If you have a stone or granite countertop it can be mounted directly to that and if you have a laminate countertop there is a base through which you would mount the faucet and which would sit on the laminate preventing damage from the faucet

The handle can be turned right or left to adjust the temperature that comes out of the faucet just like in a typical one handled faucet
