Pros
The tajima line has twice the durability of any other line i've used. The reel pulls the line in very fast. Like the foldaway crank handle the lock works but if it gets jarred around in a tool box or bucket it comes loose.
Cons
The line broke after a month, now it snaps every time i pull it tight. It isnt half the chalk box the metal stanley fat max is. Save the money buy an irwin. This chalkline makes the biggest mess i’ve ever seen!
Not as nice as the chalk-rite ii. A mi no me gustó. Very disappointed in quality.

It's true that you get what you pay for.
What else can i say except it’s a “tajima” just buy it and quit complaining about the price.
I can get the exact part i need from tajima for less.
Packaging/appearance
Only thing is my hook came off, so i’d recommend getting the box with the thicker line if your doing any type of rough carpentry.
Got it to put in my tool box for a finer chalk line.
Competitiveness
I would never even consider a different brand.
I prefer to buy from high quality companies like tajima who think about sustainability and being less wasteful.

However i would probably look for something like my plastic bodied crescent for fine or finish work where staying clean is paramount
