Pros & Cons
Pros
The instructions are a little difficult to fully understand, but i looked on youtube for a walkthrough and then started playing and it clicked. It doesn't take a huge amount of time to play like a lot of more classic board games like monopoly or settl... Read More
I find it a very rewarding game with its charm and beauty being forefront among its qualities. My family gravitates towards the cute games with well made pieces. Very aesthetically pleasing.
This game is a fantastic choice for new or younger gamers. The speed of the game flows well.
Panda and gardener are very cute. You collect cards/points by moving the farmer to grow the bamboo, letting the panda eat bamboo, or creating the desired bamboo plantation.
The pieces are well made and visually appealing. The only drawback is that some components can get tossed around if the game box is accidentally turned sideways. Getting baggies to hold components in storage can mitigate this.
Cons
The layout cards are similarly weak compared to the eating cards; one layout card gives 4 points and would need 7 turns to accomplish. Either there's a ton of bamboo out there, tons of irrigated spots which the gardener can grow on, or a tons of land.... Read More
Highlights
Quality
The components are well made and the game is fun to play.
The game pieces are sturdy and nicely made.
No matter how good the game is, we’re not likely to play a dark, ghostly, or gruesome game very often.
The game is pseudo cooperative, you are playing against each others only based on "points", rather than taking/destroying your ... Read More
Price
Overall, this is a great game, and i think it is well worth its msrp ($50); and if you can catch it on sale for any less, jump on it!
Wait for a sale and you can pick this up at about $20 or less.
Not a huge deal, but it would've been nice.
I do wish it was a smidge cheaper, but on the scale of board games it isn’t over the top.
Shipping
The board game was delivered on time and with all the pieces.
Packaging/appearance
As mentioned before the box will draw the eyes of new gamers in your group or possibly those who aren't as familiar with board ... Read More
The box design is fun and solid, and it got perfectly sized compartments inside to fit every component.
Unfortunately the game box arrived unsealed and damaged.
Disappointed my new game came with a wrinkle bent box corner.
Competitiveness
Well above most any other board game in terms of being fun and competitive with replayability.
It was fairly quick to learn, especially if you’ve played other economy/world building type games like settlers of catan.
