Pros & Cons
Pros
Tamaki haiga mai is healthier than regular rice. It is flavorful even without any additional food (such as curry) this is a rice that you can eat for its own sake. Darned well worth it.
Tamaki is my favorite us brand of japanese rice. Cooks sticky enough for sushi but doesn’t as readily veer into excessive soft stickiness. Easy to cook in a zojirushi rice cooker.
The flavor and texture are wonderful. The flavor is awesome!
It lives up to the great reviews. My family loves it and it never goes to waste. Excellent rice, no question about it.
Cons
Heed my warning. This rice is either dead or spoiled. Will not be ordering anymore.
Highlights
Quality
Cooks well in my high-end rice cooker, but i need to be more careful with water balance than with the regular white rice.
Since we travel to japan a lot and over the years, we had the chance to try some high quality rice, this rice's quality is cons... Read More
It cooks sticky enough for sushi but doesn’t as readily veer into excessive soft stickiness if i’m not perfect with the water.
Price
Ounce-for-ounce the price is a bit higher than retail, but it's prime-eligible and usually in stock.

Shipping
There is no damage on the package upon arrival, amazon did a good job on shipping and delivery.
It's a bit pricier at amazon than at japanese markets in san diego, but with free shipping, it's well worth it.
Competitiveness
Once you open the big 15lb bag, you’ll find 3 plastic bags of 5lb rice, to keep it fresher.
Note: i cook it in a zojirushi ns-zac18 on the "harder" setting.
I am a bit ambivalent that i ordered a same day purchase of a giant bag of rice, rather than go across town to get it at nijiya market.

I was raised with rice being part of just about every meal a common trait of cajun households but rice was simply an extender its flavor and texture were seldom a consideration other than making sure it was not over or undercooked
