In the past using a cardboard applicator sometimes my period would be so heavy it would absorb as soon as i was trying to apply the tampon those making it really hard to get the tampon out of the applicator because the cardboard swelled

They help prevent messes at night but if you’re heavy sleeper with a heavy flow and angle the wrong way you still may have some issues
