Pros

The mic preamp has a warmth sound to it. It truly improves my work flow when recording a multi musician simultaneous input situation. The audio quality is excellent and the built in effects are very good.

Tascam *-32sd 32-track digital porta studio does a stellar job for the price. My band mate and i are in different states and exchange sd cards across the miles. Dp32sd is the only * unit that allows you to change any stereo track to a mono track.

Bottomline, this current portable multitrack recorder unit is a steal. Power supply is now external compared to the neo, so it is very easy to replace. That makes the unit more rugged and portable.

I am astonished at the excellent quality and features that can be had for a relatively low price. But otherwise, this is absolutely stellar. Is a steal!

It's great that i can locate any of my markers any time by pressing fwd or rwd. As i tried and learned each step i wrote simplified procedures on 3x5 cards.

There are oversized cases on amazon at <$150 at this writing.

This feature alone is worth the price of admission.

Competitiveness

There is no compare when you can eq etc.

While many other stand-alone recorders have many more effects, the tradeoff here is the number of tracks you get in place of them.

Only other issues early on were related to sd cards themselves until i found out the sandisk ones work best.
