For the money, i believe this is the best audio recorder available.
I was considering the zoom, when tascam released the portacapture x8 at $499.
So disappointed with a device that cost around $500 and has the feel of a $50 recorder.
It should not cost 40 bucks, but it does.

I have a tascam model 16 mixerinterfacerecorder at home and a good selection of microphones but i was looking for something more portable that could cover most if not quite all of those duties

Unfortunately it is priced high and soon after it was released they raised the price even more

One of the critical issues with the mix pre ii is that it was extremely power hungry and the aa batteries lasted for 3040 minutes

You could buy an additional power plate that used sony video batteries but it made it unwieldy as a portable recorder
