Pros & Cons
Pros
The only thing i would change if i could would be the nut size. Fits nicely in the overhead bins. The difference between a mini and standard is something beginners won't notice, but may make learning cords and finger placement a little easier.
The ebony fretboard and elixir strings are as smooth as velvet which makes for easy chord progressions. This is my third acoustic guitar, and is the best sounding, most fun-to-play steel string that i own. Beautiful sound, crisp and loud.
My humble opinion is that for guitars that are in my price range, taylor is the best. At the $300 ish price point, the gs mini is a steal, even with a few dings and scratches. Mine is the electric version and the couldnt be happier with that option.
This guitar is really just a joy to sit down and play. Love it. A pleasure to play. It's a great, simple, and well-made guitar that's just a blast to play.
The finish is beautiful showing the wood grain without being overly glossy. Taylor really knows how to build high quality guitars in a repeatable and consistent manner no matter the price point or the country of manufacture.
Cons
The neck is very thin here and made vulnerable because of the cavity for the upper end of the truss rod. From what i can see they don't stand by their guitars a their warranty is useless.

Craftsmanship is excellent and most importantly so is the sound.
Perfect if you are looking for a quality smaller guitar.
It has a big crisp sound and it’s comfortable to hold.
Price
I paid the extra $20 to get one without dings and scratches.
The only reason why it might not make a good "first guitar" is because of the price.
Shipping
Received order 3 days before expected, so excited… awesome guitar for a 64 year old female beginner….
Competitiveness
And when you look at other guitars in the same price range, this one *still* stands out.
The gs mini is a great guitar for a lot of different reasons.
I was not able to find a used gs mini for less than the purchase price of this guitar.
Compared to an old takamine that i also have, this one does have a better sustain then the takamine, but it's nowhere near on t... Read More

I preferred the taylors over the martins in the guitar store though and when it comes to acoustics in my price range i dont really think there are any other brands to consider

The thing is though that this thing is not necessarily only a practice guitar

I would rate it as a 34beginners guitar34 due to its size and construction quality but the actual guitar when compared to other beginners guitars ive played is just not even on the same level

Not even the baby taylors come close

The guitar puts out quite a bit of volume but its mostly a sound that hits you right away and then fades quickly
