Pros & Cons

Update Pros and Cons

Pros

The tea gives an incredibly sweet, brown sugar flavor with undertones of malt and cacao. It has a smooth light buttery flavor and it’s light like a white tea but with a little more flavor of an oolong.

This is not an inexpensive tea, but i do plan to repurchase when this bag is empty.

Brews flavorful tea for 3 or more steepings. The tea is suitable for multiple infusions, reducing the cost per cup. Each cup is brewed at 175 degrees fahrenheit.

Cons

It tastes as if i were steeping grass clippings from my front yard. Boring, not huangshang scent.

The best tea i ever had was in the mid 1970's when i was training with the german army.

If you're expecting it to be as intense as green tea, you'll be disappointed, but if you're expecting it to be as mild as white...  Read More

Price

I was a bit skeptical since the price is lower than most yellow teas, but this is excellent.

If you want a good *unscented* yellow that is cost conscious, try the one davidson's organics makes.

I got my last batch directly from tealyra at a lower price so it is best to check where the price is better.

Packaging/appearance

It arrived on time with intact packaging.

Yellow tea does not have the grassiness of green tea because they go through a process where they remove the grassiness.

Competitiveness

I’m really happy to have found a replacement for my favorite tea and i will be ordering more from tealyra.

Have to commend tealyra: great selection, priced right!

The farmers who make it are either dying of old age or starting to make other teas instead because yellow tea is not as well known as green or black tea and is much harder to produce
