The enclosure has a generously long power cable and includes a usb-c cable as well. This is plugged into a thunderbolt 3 port on windows machine. This identifies itself as an asmedia asm1074 - which is really just the built in hub.
Wake up of drives is virtually instantaneous. No issues with naming/formatting, speeds are where they should be. No fussing with drivers/software.
This isn't a big deal, but i found it to be an extra nicety. Over a solid deal in a good footprint from terramaster. Great for bulk storage and hot swapping.
Cons

The d4-300 is a poor investment for a simple docking station for das simplicity. Despite claims, maco, windows, and linux are unable to do ssd trim. It constantly cycles off and drops the drives.

The d4300 exposes each as a separate drive to linux and unlike some usb enclosures it passes through all smart information

An internet search led me to the problem while the das is powered it seems that the built in usb hub is bus powered and might not get enough power from some minipc boards
