Pros

Reviewer has 1 1tb samsung ssd boot drive 4 1tb ssd in a asus m. This system works flawlessly - have a media share and a password protected share for acronis backups. Has not lost any data. Works with windows 7 back up and file history back up.

The fan is quiet, and the build quality leaves nothing to be desired. Only complaint is the enclosure will sometimes start buzzing. Performance is as expected and the drives/enclosure are quiet enough to not become a distraction.

Build quality is very solid, the aluminum chassis is sturdy. The one gripe i have is that it isn't especially clear how t mount a 2.

Raid is easy using a rotary switch on the back and resetting the enclosure with a bent paper clip or other thin tool. Then setup in raid 1 mode. For raid/jbod configuration, a raid manager application is required.

The movies are clear and not choppy. Some notes, both positive and negatives. Matched description. Satisfied with function.

Cons

Raid system automatically deletes your entire raid 5. Even performing defragmentation resulted in disconnection. Gbps is its limitation. Poor quality usb-c / thunderbolt 3 port.

Overall, this a great enclosure to consolidate multiple discs and not worry about overheating.

Data untouched, plug and play, up and running within a full scan of the drives taking about an hour.

I have it all mirrored on an 8tb drive so just in case the raid 5 suffers a major failure i won't lose all my data.

Price

I got this on sale which really sweetened the deal!

(i was not paid for this review, nor was the product provided free or at a discount).

I'll be buying another one if they go on sale around black friday, and will update this review if anything goes wrong with my unit.

The precious and expensive data loss was a big loss for me.

Shipping

After sending in my amazon invoice, i was told it was still under warranty.

The website for software downloads was very fast.

I wish it was faster but i'll take it for now.

Competitiveness

In comparison, my old individual enclosures used to go up to 52 degrees c!

I had initially contacted terramaster about getting a replacement fan, and was told terramaster did not sell replacement parts.

Honestly, this has been working better than the owc raid box i purchased a month or two ago.

I was very upset, but terramaster offered a discount on a new one.
