He loves the look and the fact that they have great traction on wet and slippery surfaces. They are great for wet, slippery conditions.

It's not a huge lip, so it's not a huge deal.
Competitiveness
Having retired and moved to florida, i now live in flip flops and these are my preferred brand/model.
I was having trouble finding my size in this model so i tried some other teva's, but not near as good.

It looks nice but i think itll keep watersandother stuff under your feet rather than giving it a clean exit out the sides of the flops
