Author has tried to do something unusual and imaginative. The style of writing, however, feels rigid and childish. A lot of it is down to the inexperience of the writer.

But the start is strong, and so is the final act - i read the final 100 pages quickly, with the same fervour i started the first 100 with.

I particularly loved the imagery of flora’s forage flights sharp air clear light bees roaring into the sky like massed fighter pilots the crushing power of rain scent lines of nectar the black smell of tarmac the vile oily retch of roadside plants the overarching distant call of the hive…
