Pros

Good reading for someone wanting a concise history of 200 years of complex players and factions. A quick, informative read.

A good basic overview of the crusades. I am fascinated by the crusader history. The first crusade was undertaken in 1096.

The crusades appear to be a dark time in history with terrible brutality on both sides. I hope someday human brings will find a more civilized way to defend their faith. i believe it was the intent of the christians to fight for israel.
