The only difficulty i had was that i didnt know the detailed geography of southern greece so i spent a fair amount of time looking at the map online so as to follow the events in the book

Hanson is a wellknown political commentator who is always worth reading but his background is as a military and classical historian

But i knew little about the period when sparta ceased to be a major factor perhaps because as hanson points out many of the histories of that era have been lost
