Pros & Cons
Pros
There's a rich vein of humanity and empathy running through it that counteracts the sometimes horrific, sometimes gut-wrenching plot developments. The main character is a nurse named harper. The strength and resilience of harper, fighting to save her ... Read More
Cons
Every chapter ends on a very non-subtle note of foreshadowing. The story just drags and drags along. It's unbelievable, unreadable and unentertaining.
This book is an embarrassment and should be completely written off. This is more a book for the young, to teenage group so i'm not sure why it shows up in an adult filter.
Even at the beginning, the abusive husband who writes pretentious novels sounds like jack torrence. About 600 pages later, we arrive at the climaxes, which were more like erectile dysfunction than climaxes. The story is a rewrite of one of his dad's m... Read More
Everyone seems to be completely mindless and incapable of seeing one step ahead. The novel is also inexplicably * and/or violent. There are so many mis spelled words in this that it just gets annoying.

Quality
The quality of the book when it came to my house was perfect!
The fireman is a great read, and is especially apt with the pandemic winding down.

Although perhaps with a bit more interesting and original concepts than his predecessor the large cast of characters that drive the novel the lack of shyness at getting strange and gritty and the ability to write horrifying male characters only matched by the inability to write female ones are all reminiscent of king’s work

Not only is the female main character notably missing realistic depth and ohsoclearly written by a man but even more annoying is the portrayal of the deaf character so clearly written by a hearing person who didn’t do much research

From the mention that lipreading is ‘just something they do in movies’ to the explanations of asl there was a lot lacking in little nick’s representation
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
And the most egregious plot hole comes from the fact that his relationship with another character is built on the fact that he knew sign and could thus communicate with nick

Despite the fact that said character is british and learned sign from his ‘irish mother’ meaning that whatever type of sign he learned across the pond is certainly not whatever nick would have been using
