Basically you start out at the bottom and have to work your way up to eventually being the godfather yourself you move up by completing missions and taking over enemy territory eventually wiping out most of those local gains and other mob families all together

You need to take over legitimate businesses in order to hide the criminal activity you can do this either by force or by just paying a bribe to the current owner youll have showdowns with the various other families you learn points where you can increase various abilities from intimidation do your ability to bribe cops to look the other way but be careful is you commit crimes your heat meter will go up meaning the police will start to pay more attention to you and become more aggressive to take you down theres a couple ways to handle this the worst way is to get into a fight with the police that will just send your heat meter soaring but on occasion youll get stuck in youll have no choice but to fight your way out but ideally what you want to do is bribe them to look the other way also as you conquered more territory it will open up safe houses these are wonderful places to quickly run to and lay low for a while until your heat meter goes down

It just isnt with the police youre going to have to go to your safe houses to get another heat meter down on the rival games and mob families who control that particular area you can also use your fictional cash to buy new clothing and other looks for your character but in my opinion its more important to use that to buy businesses and particularly safe houses and playing the game myself i have many times gotten myself out of a jam by quickly racing to a safe house again as you continue to achieve more you will be promoted if you play the game right youll eventually the godfather yourself the story is very good and uses pieces of the movie the voice acting is really topquality ive played another video game which i have reviewed based on a famous mob movie that is scarface dont get me wrong i like playing the game but the story and particularly the voice acting was not very good in godfather blackhand edition thats totally different youll even see the famous scene of the horses had left in the bed because youll have to help make sure that its being put there theres all sorts of other things about this game i think i have some pretty good replay value may want to go back starting over again and try to unlock some things that you didnt the first time around i very much highly recommend this game a warning though to say the least its rated m it is certainly for adults so if youre offended by language or violence or sexual content youre not going to want to touch this game but if that doesnt bother you and youre looking for probably in my opinion the best video game based on a movie this is right up your alley
