Kim cooper's first novel, the kept girl, takes places in los angeles in 1929. Cooper uses factual situations and biographical bits of raymond chandler's life to make a fine novel. Cooper is the founder of esotouric bus tours and the lava accociation.

This novel captures the reader’s attention early and holds it until the very end. Well-written, brilliantly researched, totally compelling and fascinating. I have my fingers crossed that she will follow this remarkable debut novel with a sequel.

The story is interesting, but the way the story is told is so drab and boring. The rest is insanely intolerable and not worth describing.

I was not familiar with the author's blog but will look for it now and hope she continues writing such lovely and intriguing novels.

Kim cooper obviously knows her historical los angeles as proven by all of the location name dropping that is scattered throughout this novel
