The king of confidence tells the story of james strang. Strang was the successor of joseph smith for a portion of the fledgling * church. This is a part of * history you just never hear about, but it is truly fascinating.
The book also serves as a cautionary tale for our own age. The narrator for this audiobook version is absolutely incredible.
Cons
The author spends hundreds of pages denigrating the * religion. This book is nothing but a hack job aimed at the mormons.

I was surprised however given the vast research that lies behind this book that the author failed to cite very clear evidence from the chapter headed “tithing” in strang’s book of the law of the lord that the beaver island “saints” truly were engaged in at least some of the acts of piracy accredited to them by several newspapers of the day
