The story has a lot of things going for it namely its pace and plot twists. All 3 books work together well, with books 2 and 3 better than the first. Book 4 & 5 are also terrific.
Eli is clever and sarcastic. The banter between the main characters is amusing, if not laugh out loud funny. The world incorporates a unique magic/world system.

Rachel aaron tries to glorify each character. She glorifies the character as if they were the main and only character in the series. Just a downer imo.

None of the three were acceptional, but as a trilogy it was above average.
I pray she writes more stories centered in this same world.

As a summary the plot in book 1 is driven by a lovely cast of characters that liven up an otherwise rather cliche storyline
