Pros & Cons

Pros

Use as a supplement for homeschooling science for an advanced 5 year old. Perfect for 3-5th grade. Homeschool mom and former teacher here. The plastic is lighter than expected.

Learn about constellations with premade cards and a set of blank ones for making your own. View them through the constellation box included in the kit. Paint your own solar system and a poster with stickers.

Nice multipurpose dino exploration kit. Great small kit. Final project culminated in a 3d dinosaur puzzle to build and paint.

Cons

Quality is ca-ca. Very disappointing of me too. Great idea, but cheaply/poorly executed. Cheap plastic volcano lining.

The t-rex model is a disaster. The cutout pieces are difficult to remove from the cardboard without tearing. The paint also slides off the kaleidoscope. The wooden dinosaur is more fragile than first grade fingers seem ready for.

Quality

Our young grandkids, age 6 to 9, really enjoy 'making a mess' with the science kit, but we have to supervise.

I am sure the other boy will be equally pleased.
