Pros & Cons
Pros
The martian chronicles is a collection of short stories written by ray bradbury about colonizing mars. The ancient martians are mirrors of us; both good and bad - but more what we wish we could be. Bradbury's novel gives us an unusual but interesting ... Read More
Non technical, verging on the poetic. I remember being disturbed at that age by how much the book moved me, emotionally.
The larger story arc uniting these interwoven short stories is pretty dark, compared to a lot of bradbury. The narration is strikingly reminiscent of the old 1930s/1940s radio dramas bradbury, himself, loved.
While this book is lumped in with science fiction, it transcends the genre. Some of the stories are standard scifi, but many others are a mix of fantasy and weird fiction.
Smooth cover, nice pages, and good printing. His performance is masterful. Received in timely maner.
Cons
Any blue-blooded reader despises abridged editions. After “purchase of kindle edition, it gives you the table of contents and tells you you have to pay for book at $3. Would be nice to know before downloading.
The book is a jumble of confused stories about the various attempts by people from earth to inhabit mars. And, martian chronicles is poetically written. It is dated at best, contrived at worst.

It is a compact and well-made paperback and i highly recommend it!
My original copy of chronicles has long since yellowed out and its pages have fallen apart.

He came to our house and read stories at christmas time.
Packaging/appearance
The book came in excellent condition, with no bent or torn pages, either.
Competitiveness
It is more positive than orwell and quite charming, as well.
Bradbury uses descriptive words and phrases is simply amazing.
Not that it can't work both ways simultaneously but bradbury's focus is something like 90% on the people, what they do and why.
