Pros
Brandon sanderson is a gifted writer and it shows in both his adult and ya fiction. As with all stories sanderson the creativity is amazing.
The series looks to carry on in that wonderful astoundingly creative and suspenseful way. It is essentially a fantasy coming of age meets * detective story. A book full of twists and turns.
I love the characters, the suspense never stops. The main character is fun, yet serious and surrounded by wonderful characters. Strong male and female protagonists.
Rithmatics" is the story of joel and melody. Rithmatic powers are the path to salvation.
Cons
The monsters are made of chalk. Don't expect a follow up for this book for 6+ years. This is the first brandon sanderson book i did not enjoy. I love brandon sanderson but this one misses something.
It seems geared to 9-11 year olds. The female office worker is somewhat silly and rather talkative. Insecure and weak and incompetent.
Highlights
Quality
I got hooked on sanderson with the way of kings in the stormlight archives and haven’t been able to put his work down since then.
Packaging/appearance
I love the world he created and can't wait for the next installment, though i wish he would write this into the cosmere.

I will say this is probably one of the quicker paced stories but it still take until around the last 50100 pages to really take off

Once again sanderson starts you off with a unique fantasy world that doesnt make much sense
