It captures the imagination of eight-year-old youngsters. It easily holds the attention of 80- year-old grandparents. Parents need to know they are being rooked by that elitist school they are sending their kids to.
If the mist blurs things for mortals, showing things that would make more sense, i want to know what the kids saw as monsters attacked them. They are mortal but the book made it seem like they saw everything.

Rick riordan's percy jackson series is a blatant rip-off of harry potter. Percy is a * for at least 40% of the book. Overall, percy's series fail completely.
