The writing is very good at conveying the setting and the perspective of the principal characters. The book is a fast read. It pulls the reader along with it. Author uses good prose with a well-constructed plotline.

The horror is slowly and methodically built to the extent it is, which is not much. There is an attempt to keep the evil force hidden and off screen in order to build tension and curiosity in the reader, but it never reaches a level of fright.
