The story is a variation on aesop’s fable ‘the ant and the grasshopper’ with squirrels parachuted in as characters one lackadaisical and carefree and the other studious who are competing for the final nut of the season

Firstly there are some unusual words which probably do need a bit of explaining bedraggled and hollered probably words that 4 or 5 year olds might not have yet been exposed to

Additionally the chase scene for the nut does go on quite a long time

However these quibbles apart i’d certainly recommend both the book and the author based on this…
