Pros & Cons
Pros
A young aristocrat on the run in the midst of a galactic conspiracy. A continual theme of robots and their development. Only shortcoming is that you may not expect the depth of other asimov books.
This is the beginning of how the human settlements of the planets of the milky way galaxy evolved into the monolithic empire of the foundation trilogy. It is the first of the galactic empire trilogy, or should i say pre-galactic empire, trilogy.
Biron farrill is an archetypical hero, maybe toned down a bit from the flash gordon/buck rogers models. The plot involves a possibly mythical "rebellion world" that is theoretically located in the horsehead nebula.
Cons
The lead character, biron, is believable only to a naive teenage reader. The romance is even less believable.
I enjoy old, classic sf novels occasionally, but this asimov novel did disappoint me. Written with cringeworthy awkwardness and zero suspense. Probably a good one to avoid unless you are a completist.
