Pros

Two 80mm fans pull air in from the side and eject it out through slots at the bottom of the case. The two fans are silent and blow well. The fans are great as it will be in close quarters with the dvr box.

The blue led lights behind the fans have an on-off switch. The only cons is that there is no power switch to turn it off (just one for the leds), so you need to unplug it.

The use of two 80mm cooling fans blowing against the entire bottom face of the drive to prevent heat buildup during long backup operations strikes me as the most efficient method. My motto these days is, cool is cool.

The thermaltake is great, and very easy to assemble. The enclosure seems to be mostly plastic, but is still built well and seems sturdy. But exquisitely engineered cheap plastic.

Cons

Thermaltake really needs to do a better job with the esata plug. It is a shame that they spent so much time making so much that matters so little be impressive.

Price

Now i have 2tb of expanded dvr space at a reasonable price.

So i decided to make my own with this thermaltake case and a wd 2tb av-gp drive, for a total of $125.

This product is just the ticket although i wish they were a bit less expensive.

The price really sucks, but i value my data and don't like headaches so i don't care.

Shipping

Took about 5 days to get here and was packed well.

Packaging/appearance

From box to transferring data it was all of 5 mins.

The max 5 was in in the retail box and then layed in another box with bubble wrapp protecting it.

Competitiveness

I think that the max 5 is a superior product.

I also have 3 antec mx-1 enclosures, which have similar features to the max 5.

After a disastrous run-in with a rose-type competitor, i found these little gems and couldn't be happier.

My overall opinion of this product is that it's a lot better than any of the other enclosures i've used.
