I pour boiling water into the thermos, wait a couple of minutes, then dump it back into the pot.
Not sure why some reviewers say the screen doesn't fit or leaks grounds.

The one issue with this press is that if you put the caraffe in the dishwasher it will get water inside of the plastic base and will take forever to get it out
