I doubt anyone of any ideology will be completely satisfied with the various assertions made in the book, which in my mind is a good thing.
This was a really important book for me to have read, and i am very glad i did, but not for the reasons i expected.

Sure nonviolence was practicedparticularly by the heads of the various organizationsbut many black americans had fought in ww1 ww2 and the korean war and they no longer were going to sit idly by as they were beaten bombed and killed

I too believed that the southern civil rights movement was nothing more than sitins marches and protests met with vicious white hostility that often materialized in the form of physical attacks
