Pros & Cons
Pros
The only downside is that the outside of it has gotten bumped and scuffed along the way, so it's showing it's age. I love that the cord retracts and stores within itself at the bottom (see pic). All in all, this is probably the best rice cooker i have... Read More
Tiger brand jnp-0550 is a 3 cup (uncooked) rice cooker. Comes with dew cup, a rice spatula and a holder for the spatula. Great for keeping any kind of noodle or rice in it. It cooks evenly and doesn't burn the bottom.
Cons
It overheats and overcooks. Like others have said, it spews water everywhere. It turns yellow and smelly.
It actually works but the steam also escapes around the sides of the pot and covers the lid. After only 3 months of use it no longer cooks the rice.
Highlights
Quality
I will say this is a really quality product.
Tiger one-switch is the classic, extremely simple-to-use and highly durable japanese rice cooker.
Steam is escaping from all sides and the lid is extremely hot to the touch.
This rice cooker is made in japan.
Price
It works as advertised very reliable good price i would buy it again.
You would think that a product of this cost would last longer as well as be safer.
(i'd even spen $250 for it, for it would still be worth it)
First of all, i thought the product is too pricey and over rated.
Shipping
The delivery was simple and on time so far no problems.
Really love it and received it in a timely manner
Packaging/appearance
Perfect condition, packed in item box and a factory tiger shipping box.
Competitiveness
Then i bought another brand (aroma) and it did not make good rice whatsoever, despite the raving reviews.
I found this one by going to asian markets and they told me this was the only one they used.
I also use it to make other box rice (dirty rice, black beans and rice ext) and it cooks it better then on the stove top.
