The main flaw is how hard it is to press the power button with them on there is a frame around the top of the power button which makes it nearly impossible to turn on unless you can hit it with your fingernail

I drop my 3ds a lot and when i drop it with the case on the case comes off but my 3ds doesnt get damaged
