Installation consists of plugging it into one of your computers usb ports thats it consider it installed

I cant say anything about the preinstalled software on the drives since i use a third party backup program instead

The end of the cable that connects to the drive looks proprietary so if something happens to your usb cable you will likely have to buy a new one from toshiba
