I got some 20tb drives for my unraid array these are substantially louder than the seagate exos drives i’m moving from i’d recommend either putting them in a sound proofed case or a different room

I usually buy western digital drives but given their recent anticonsumer practices secretly supplying shingled drives where it used to be cmr drives which issue a smart failure after 3 years of operational time regardless of their actual condition and most recently the issues with their ssd subsidy sandisk where rather than recall defective ssds they simply cut the price in half in an apparent attempt to get rid of them i decided to try another brand
