Pros

Speed ranges from an initial speed of about 238mib/sec to 98mib/sec under a full disk write. I got some 20tb drives for my unraid array, these are substantially louder than the seagate exos drives i’m moving from. As for installation, i do what i norm...  Read More

This drive is significantly more noisy than my 10 year old wd red and even in a sound dampened case i can hear it clicking away.

Price

Great value for money, and i'm looking at buying a second to mirror my backups.

A lot of storage ( i have the 18tb ) for a fairly good price.

This looked like a bargain; its “enterprise” kit, but didnt specifically say nas compatible.

As a bonus i managed to snag a discount; amazon were offering a 20% off voucher and so i got the 4tb model for just under £82, ...  Read More

The drive was delivered quicker that the prime stuff ordered at the same time.

Packaging/appearance

Amazon packaging was fine with plenty of paper to stop it all rattling around the amazon box.

Previously ive always used seagate western digital non enterprise type drives around 30 of them in my desktop pcs nass

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

However i thought id try two 10tb toshiba enterprise drives this time as they are currently over £70 cheaper than the 10tb seagate equivalents

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Yes you can hear them spinning and yes you can hear the clunking from them when their actuators are active but theyre definitely not noisy for enterprise drives

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Many forget that enterprise drives are built sturdier and heavier than standard drives so they do make a little more noise theyre also built to be used literally 247 if necessary

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Plus as hard drive capacity is increasing year on year theres more rotating mass inside of them so masking noise completely is impossible with any spinning platter type drive

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Mine have been quiet above the normal hummmm

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Saying that though i suspect that the 5 year guarantee may be hard to claim against judging by the previous reviews here and my own perusing of toshiba support site

Though i have just read somebody did find a way through the not so clear returns procedure
