This drive is significantly more noisy than my 10 year old wd red and even in a sound dampened case i can hear it clicking away.

Great value for money, and i'm looking at buying a second to mirror my backups.
A lot of storage ( i have the 18tb ) for a fairly good price.
You can't buy this much storage for a reasonable price any other way.
This looked like a bargain; its “enterprise” kit, but didnt specifically say nas compatible.

The drive was delivered quicker that the prime stuff ordered at the same time.

However for around £100 less than the competition they are great value for money.
In terms of what's on the spec sheet, they blow the usual competition for nas storage drives out of the water.

There are only two slight negatives with this drive if im being really picky one is the sound of the platters

I actually like to hear the sound of the heads working so i know its readingwriting data perfectly fine but the spindle sound from the motor is quite loud

The sound this produces from the motor is very similar to most seagate drives

In my experience wd have the quietest motors but ive had a couple of wd drives fail on me very quickly with one completely seazing up and one throwing smart reallocation count warnings so i chucked both drives and went for this drive

The second slight negative is this gets extremely hot even if well ventilated if writing a lot of data its almost too hot to touch the max temperature ive seen is 49 degrees c with windows to go running and powering a windows 10 insider vm but no smart warnings
