This does not affect the usability or quality of the drive at all.
Price
Definitely louder than the pair of 4td wd reds they replaced, but the price was good, and they work great in the mycloudmirror (gen 2)
Packaging/appearance
Packaging for a hard drive wasn't the best but better than some i have experienced.
I'm sure the original packaging wouldn't have qualified.
It seems likely that the drive could have been damaged during transport due to inadequate packaging.

These are also 7200 rpm as opposed to the wd 5400 rpm 2tb units they have replaced.
The synology software warns me that it may not be compatible when i install it.
I installed this on a synology nas with 4 hardrives of other brands (two wd and two sg) and this is the noisier of the 5 when operating.

In december 2018 i purchased 7 of these drives at £166ea and almost 3 years later theyre still going strong with only disk having and issue which was replaced under warranty

Ive been running them in a dell r720xd in a rack in the garage so any noisy doesnt bother me and is drowned out by the server fans anyway
