I will say its a bit of a learning curve since the first several times i filled up the tray as directed the cubes still stuck badly to the lid and i had to remove them by hand but once you get the trick of a correct water height it doesnt seem to do it nearly as badly

It came with a small scoop which fits in the storage bin underneath the 2 stackable trays

As long as you keep filling the trays you wont run out of ice very easily
