If you cant open the tailgate with two fingers on the handle then you need to replace this latch

If your buying the hatch handle make sure you replace the release mechanism at the same time

Spend the extra cash unless you really like crawling in to your vehicle and taking doors apart while they are stuck closed

That causes the whole release mechanism to bind just enough that you cannot open the door
