I had better luck with the brush and after using the pen side once the paint dried in the tip and could not be used

Then carefully apply over surface using as little paint as possible repeat after few coats waiting for each coat to dry and use fine paint brush to clear over itthe clear is optional

If you really want it to look nice youll need some clearcoat finegrit sandpaper polishing compound a buffer and time
