I have had clear cases that always turn yellow on the edges after a while so having this plastic material on the edges will be a great way to prevent that common disgusting turnout of phone cases

The edge that surounds the sides of the phone project above the front and back allowing me to set the phone down on either the front or back while keeping the screen or back from touching the surface of what ever i put it on
