Pros & Cons
Pros
The vlan is simple enough that if you are comfortable configuring typical consumer routers using the web interface, you would be fine configuring vlan (and other) features of this router. There's nothing to configure, just plug it in and it’s ready to... Read More
The switch is a central hub to connect your network to several devices and get insanely fast speeds printing, scanning, sharing data between computers, and so on. It extends the network to reach all over your home or office. I have gigabit fiber inter... Read More
Think of it like a splitter for your ethernet (wired) network. Small business / professional developer use is more than adequate. The only real negative is that it is pretty light, so depending on your cable setup, you might need to use some double-si... Read More
Cons
As always, tp-link continues to disappoint me. Cheap, so it’s replaceable. The qc for this company is the worse i’ve ever seen.
Worked initially then conked out. This is a problem because i will, at least once a day lose internet entirely and the only way to get it back is to unplug and replug this thing.
Claiming that a switch with flaw provides vlan management is like claiming that a car that has no brakes or brake mounts as street legal. This flaw+ad is itself evidence of clear and deliberate fraud.
Highlights
Quality
Works great , used it to plug 2 desktops to ethernet cables off of the 1 cable coming from router.
I have multiple pcs hardwired and a mesh router passing gigabit speeds flawlessly
“network not connected” would pop up and fade away at random… hourly.
It's a solid 1 in, 4 out switch with a low power draw.
Price
Nice switch that works well at a great price
This little switch does everything i need at about half the price of the previous one i had.
Very happy that $14 solved a host of headaches - just wish i found this sooner.
I literally have a mesh router that was $500, built for gaming and streaming.
Packaging/appearance
I'm so used to the ancient ones i used growing up that were massive, i laughed when i saw the tiny box this arrived in.
Competitiveness
44w, this switch basically has 10% less power drain than tp link's other eco friendly model.
4w, compared to the fancier tl-sg105 model which pulls 0.
