Pros & Cons
Pros
I live in a 2 story house where second story required a repeater or range booster to get adequate signal for cameras and streaming. The ax 1800 is a true mesh capable router. It has 2 usb ports and 3 separate channels for connectivity with each 5ghz l... Read More
Cons
Tech support is non existent. I am on round three with tp-link tech support trying to get my router's connectivity issues resolved. To be told by support that this is blocked for security is preposterous.
This router has a very limited life span. I am not a person that spends that type of money on a router. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this brand like the plague.
It is not that the router doesn't work, it is that there are intermittent disconnections from the wifis it broadcasts. My wi-fi drops out on most of my devices. There is still some lag time on my laptop in areas of my house that is worse than before.
Had issues with those needing to be rebooted every other day. Since then, at least once a week, it has to be restarted. Will repost when the issue is either resolved or not resolved.
The pwd command shows i am at the / folder but it shows nothing contained therein. There was no signal. Went back to the deco m5 setup and everything instantly connected.
Highlights
Quality
Great performance, good quality, and no regrets!
Easy setup, zero downtime since install several months ago.
Security could be boosted as this is outdated security wise but again won't quarrel about proprietary machines.
I purchased the insurance as well but i don't think it will be needed because the device is durable and well made.
Price
For the price, it was an excellent investment for my home network security.
Packaging/appearance
Un box it, pull the antenna up and plug it in.
Competitiveness
The archer a20's mu-mimo technology is another noteworthy feature.
Works better than the router spectrum tried to give us for $5 a month.
