Pros

Signal is usable in every room of my three-bedroom flat. Antenna access point reaches across and up and down my house.

To say this is an upgrade is an understatement.

The ac2300 as a router is running at gigabytes between all our connected units. A speedtest at the router gives a broadband speed of 106mbps. It took me approx 20 minutes to setup, as i wanted to check all the settings.

The vm 3. Ethernet is a great alternative to * media's super hub 3. It can be installed by plugging a laptop into one of the ports on the back of the c4000. It also works as a wireless router.

From a network security level you get a lifetime subscription to trendmicro anti-virus. This blocks malicious content, intrusion protection and will even quarantine an infected device from the rest of your network. Parental controls allow you to assig...  Read More

Cons

Didn't manage our tplink onemesh powerline adapters and range extender very well. I'm back to using my * hub 3 with 10 - 20mpb speeds since it somehow manages to best even this router.

Price

I suspect it didn't cost tp-link any more to add, and it gives them a marketing tick box.

That makes the router itself rather poorer value for money.

Well worth spending the money but it isn't that cheap normally.

I hesitated because it isn't the newest kid on the block, but price and specs were right so i went ahead.

Packaging/appearance

Some months ago my apple time capsule finally packed in, which had functioned perfectly as a router for several years, so i cha...  Read More

Competitiveness

I bought this because we have a lot of wired ethernet devices, and it is one of the few wifi routers that has as many as eight ports.

It is entirely incompatible with this router and other onemesh devices (for reasons best known to tp-link).

5gb speed of the wan port is overkill in today's market, particularly as none of the other ports are faster than 1gb.

Tp-link's other mesh technology is called deco.
