I use this for a dimmable grow light i installed in the livingroom.
These are a little bigger than the newer models, but i prefer to stick with a tried and tested product.
As with other tp kasa products the install and configuration is a breeze within the app.

The plug is brilliant so easy to set upmine work great for 12 months until i updated the firmware now i’ve just got a useless piece of plastic i’m not happy at alli have two other plugs that i’m not updatingi emailed customer service with not much supportdont upgrade your firmware

You then do the rest of the set up using the kasa app for your smart phone which connects the plug to your wifi

After this you’re given various options for naming the device setting schedules setting different icons for different devices among many other useful options

To repair the device if the connection stops because of internet problems or a change in broadband provider etc you simply press and hold the physical button on the plug that doubles as an onoff switch for several seconds which will reset the device to allow it to be set up again

The kasa app is very user friendly and i enjoy being able to control all manner of connected devices using it

To use with alexa you just need to connect alexa using the tplink skill and then can choose to use the alexa app as well as the tplink to control your devices and they also work with the samsung’s ‘smartthings’ service

The wizard on the app to set them up worked perfectly first time and i had no wireless connection issues
